Flinchum Caps Season with All-American Honors

Pirate sophomore Ashlyn Flinchum completed one of the most successful seasons in VC softball history as one of 26 individuals from across the state on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association California JC All-American team. The St. Bonaventure High School product was the Western State Conference North Division Pitcher of the Year and also earned All-Region and All-State honors for her performance in leading VC from the circle in 2023.

Flinchum led the CCCAA in strikeouts with 234 K's in 33 games, shattering Ventura's former school record of 175. She had a 23-6 record in 2023, pitching 203.2 innings with a 1.94 earned run average, recording 8.12 punchouts per seven innings pitched. Flinchum pitched 26 complete games with a 1.94 earned run average and a WHIP of 1.12.

After winning the program's first WSC title since 2017, their first outright crown since 2012, with a 14-1 record, Ventura went on to post an overall mark of 31-10-1, advancing to the Super Regional round of the Southern California Regional Playoffs for just the second time in team history.

NFCA Cal JC All-America athletes must be nominated by their NFCA-member head coaches and are voted for by the coaches in their region to receive this prestigious accolade.
