The Pirate softball team has its season come to an end Saturday in the Super Regionals at Cypress College.

The VC softball season came to an end on Saturday with a Super Regional-ending 8-0 decision at Cypress. The No. 11-seeded Pirates managed just three hits and reached scoring position twice against the No. 3-seeded Chargers. Ciana Garcia, Lauren Albrent, and Ashlyn Flinchum all had hits for Ventura (31-10-1) and Flinchum added three strikeouts to her school-record total from the circle.

Cypress opened with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning and followed it up with two more in the second. The Chargers scored once in the third, twice in the fourth, and walked off with a run  in the fifth to advance in the post-season.

Albrent hit a two-out single in the first inning, and Garcia had a two-out hit in the third, advancing to second on a wild pitch. Mia Guerrero reached base on an error in the fourth frame, and moved ahead to scoring position on Flinchum's single.

Ventura ends its season in the Super Regional round of the playoffs for just the second time in program history. They also surpassed the 30-win mark for the sixth time since 1980 and the first time since 2012.
