Pirate Softball Falls to Top-Ranked Mt. SAC

The VC softball team dropped a 9-2 decision to state No. 1-ranked Mt. San Antonio Tuesday afternoon at the VC Softball Complex. Ahlyssa Guzman, Lauren Albrent and Isabella Ayala all had two hits for No. 17 Ventura and Isabel Gallegos knocked in both VC runs in the game. Morgan Albertsen and Ashlyn Flinchum shared duties in the pitcher's circle in the setback.

The Mounties came out hot, scoring three runs in the first, another in the second, and four more in the third inning to hold a commanding lead.

Ventura was able to plate a pair of scores in the bottom half of the third. With two outs, Guzman and Albrent put up back-to-back singles. Gallegos then followed with a two-RBI triple for the highlight of the day for VC.

Mt. SAC scored one more run in the top of the fifth to set the final margin.

The Pirates travel to Antelope Valley on Thursday Feb. 9 before returning home to host Cerritos on Friday Feb. 10.
