The Ventura College softball team could not get anything going offensively Tuesday, falling at Moorpark 4-0. Ahlyssa Guzman and Isabel Gallegos were the only Pirates who managed a hit in the game. Jocelyn Ortega drew a walk and Courtney Terrazas was hit by a pitch as VC struggled to produce base runners all afternoon against the Raiders.

Moorpark took an early lead as they plated one run in the bottom of the first inning.

VC had its best threat to score in the top of the second. Gallegos led off with a single and moved to third on Ciana Garcia's sacrifice. After another out, Terrazas was hit by a pitch and Ortega walked to load the bases, but Ventura could not muster the clutch hit and they remained scoreless.

The Raiders scored two more runs in the third and another in the fourth to set the final margin.

Kat Tafoya pitched into the fourth inning for Ventura, giving up five hits and four runs. Ashlyn Flinchum came on in relief and pitched 2.2 innings of scoreless softball.

The Pirates next travel to Santa Barbara on Thursday April 21.
