The 19th-ranked VC softball team traveled to No. 1 Mt. San Antonio Tuesday, falling 8-0 to the Mounties.

The Pirate softball team rose to the No. 19 ranking in Monday's state poll, but that was of no help Tuesday when they traveled to take on top-ranked Mt. San Antonio. Ventura was unable to get anything going against the Mounties, falling in five innings, 8-0.

Ventura gave up three runs in the bottom of the first, and another in the second.  Mt. SAC plated four more runs in the fourth to set the final margin.

Morgan Albertsen started the game for VC in the circle and Kat Tafoya came on in relief.

The VC offense struggled against Mountie pitching as walks to Ashley Perez and Lauren Albrent in the fourth inning were the only base runners The Pirates had in the game.

The Pirates (16-7, 3-0) look to bounce back as they return to Western State Conference play Thursday March 24 hosting Moorpark. First pitch with the Raiders is scheduled for 2:30 pm at the VC Softball Complex.
