VC pitcher Kat Tafoya pitched a complete game 2-hit shutout at Oxnard College on Wednesday, leading the Pirate softball team to a 7-0 win over the Condors. Isabel Gallegos was 3-4 at the plate, including a home run and a triple, scoring three runs with four runs batted in to lead Ventura (8-5, 7-4) to their third straight win and their fourth triumph in the last five games.

Tafoya limited the Condors to just two singles, and she only walked two batters, only in the first inning, while striking out eight Condors en route to the victory.

Gallegos, meanwhile, scored three runs while supplying much of the Pirates' offense in the game, including a first inning three-run home run, knocking in Celeste Pacheco and Jalen Barron for an early 3-0 Pirate advantage. She then delivered in the fifth inning, hitting a triple to score Barron once again, and she scored on a wild pitch on the next batter.

In the top of the seventh, Gallegos singled to lead off the inning, then stole second. She then moved to third on a sacrifice by Abby Strong, scoring on Tafoya's triple. Tafoya then scored on a wild pitch to set the 7-0 margin.

Leanna De La Cruz also recorded a pair of hits for Ventura and Isabella Ayala had a double.

The Pirates will host Oxnard on Saturday May 22 at 12:00 pm for a single game at the VC Softball Complex.
