The California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association has released its 2020 Academic All-State Team for class work completed during the 2018-19 academic year. Pirates Jessica Mendoza and Cassidy Craig are both listed among the 202 honorees from around the state.
Award winners include those individuals who post a 3.5 or better overall grade point average and pass a minimum of 24 total units after their initial season of competition.
Mendoza, who was a freshman in 2019, is from Ventura's Foothill Tech High School while Criag, also a first-year player in 2019, is a product of Ventura High School. Both were named second-team All-Western State Conference a year ago, leading the Pirates to an overall mark of 22-17, 13-3 in WSC North Division play, good for the runner-up spot. VC qualified for the Southern California Regional Playoffs a year ago.
