The Ventura College softball team got an unexpected treat Tuesday. Due to a water main break on LA Mission's home field, the Pirates' game with the Eagles was moved to the VC Softball Complex. The friendly confines never seemed friendlier as Ventura cruised to a 14-0 victory over LAMC. Kat Tafoya pitched the shutout, extending her scoreless innings streak to 13.1, yielding just one hit with seven strikeouts. Courtney Terrazas was 3-4 at the plate with a pair of doubles and four runs batted in.

The Pirates, who were the "visiting" team, scored four runs in the second inning and followed it up with seven in the third. They finished the job with three more scores in the top of the fifth inning.

Tafoya also had a nice day at the plate, going 3-4 with a pair of RBI. Cassidy Craig and Celeste Pacheco also had two hits each in the rout.

Ventura (9-7) is riding a five-game winning streak and next hosts Bakersfield on Tuesday Feb. 25 at 2:30 pm.
