Softball Drops Twin Bill Against Santiago Canyon

VC sophomore Cassidy Craig had three hits at the plate in the Pirates double header Tuesday against Santiago Canyon.

The VC softball team dropped both ends of a double-header Tuesday at the VC Softball Complex, falling 14-1 and 6-2 to visiting Santiago Canyon College. Celeste Pacheco and Cassidy Craig each recorded three hits on the day to lead Ventura (3-4).

Ventura 1, Santiago Canyon 14
VC took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first before yielding two runs in the top of the second inning and six more in the third. Abby Strong was 2-3 with a double while Pacheco and Craig were each 1-3 at the plate. Jessica Mendoza handled pitching duties for the Pirates.

Ventura 2, Santiago Canyon 6
VC held a 2-1 lead after one inning of play before the Eagles scored the game-tying run i the second frame. SCC then scored two runs in the fifth and sixth innings for the final 6-2 margin. The Pirates recorded eight hits, led by Pacheco's 2-4 performance. Craig was also 2-4 and Kat Tafoya was 1-2 with a run batted in.  Tafoya worked in the pitcher's circle for VC.

The Pirates next host Southwestern College on Friday Feb. 7 at 3:00 pm.
