Four Pirates Headline First Team All-WSC List

Four Pirate softball players earned All-Western State Conference accolades for the 2019 season, as selected by conference coaches last month. Sophomores Adriana Clemons and Kaylee Neal both earned their second consecutive first-team nods while freshmen Serrina Cabral and Kali Brown also were named first team all-conference. 

Clemons batted .404 /.433 /.509 for the season with 26 runs scored and 22 runs batted in. She also had a .954 fielding percentage with eight assists from her centerfield position.  Neal, meanwhile, led the team with 11 doubles on the year, hitting .305 /.368 /.458 with 26 runs scored. She recorded a .947 fielding percentage from her shortstop position with 100 assists on the year.

Cabral led the team defensively with a .953 fielding percentage with 113 assists primarily at third base. She had a slash line of .339 /.415 /.441 with 30 runs scored on the year. Brown led the team in hits (55), runs (40) and stolen bases (8) while hitting .399 /.435 /.493.

Second team All-WSC honors went to sophomore Kayla Garcia and freshmen Marisa Felix, Cassidy Craig and Jessica Mendoza. Jenesa Monje and Bertha Orozco both earned Honorable Mention All-WSC awards.

The Pirates finished the season with a 13-3 WSC North Division mark, good for second place in the standings, and were 22-17 overall, qualifying for the Southern California Regional Playoffs.
