Ventura Routs Oxnard in Mercy-Rule Game

The Ventura College softball team was hitting on all cylinders Tuesday afternoon in their 15-1 5-inning defeat of host Oxnard College. The Pirates scored five runs in the first inning, one in the second, then posted nine in the third for the mercy-rule victory. Kayla Garcia led the way offensively with a pair of hits and three runs batted in while Cassidy Craig had two hits and two RBI. Adriana Clemons also knocked out a pair of base hits for VC ( 19-16, 11-3).

Jessica Mendoza did work in the pitcher's circle, allowing just one run to the Condors in picking up the victory.

Kaylee Neal knocked in three runs with one hit and Serrina Cabral recorded a hit and two runs batted in. Mendoza was also 1-2 wit an RBI and Kali Brown had one hit, three walks, and a run batted in.

The Pirates return home on Thursday April 18 for a key match-up with Moorpark College. First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 at the VC Softball Complex.
