VC Softball Takes WSC Contest vs. Hancock

The Ventura College softball team continued Western State Conference play with a walk-off 8-0 run-rule win over visiting Allan Hancock College in six innings Tuesday. Kaylee Neal was 4-4 with a double and an RBI and Kali Brown was also 4-4 while scoring four runs for the Pirates (6-6, 2-0). Jessica Mendoza had a bases-loaded triple in the first inning to get VC off on a positive note.

The Pirates jumped out to a 5-0 lead after one inning of play. They followed that with single runs in the second, fourth and sixth innings for the run-rule triumph. Neal provided the walk-off double in the bottom of the sixth.

Adriana Clemons was 2-3 with a pair of runs batted in and Serrina Cabral had a hit and an RBI. Cassidy Craig also had a hit with one run batted in. 

Mendoza pitched the shutout, yielding just four hits in the game against the Bulldogs.

The Pirates are next scheduled to host LA Pierce on Thursday March 7 at 2:30 pm.
