The Ventura College softball team had a 3-1 lead headed to the sixth inning at Cerritos, only to see if evaporate as the Falcons walked off with a 4-3 win in seven. Serrina Cabral had two doubles and scored twice and Kali Brown had two hits and one run batted in for Ventura (5-6) in the narrow road loss.

VC jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning. Cabral led off with a walk and Jessica Mendoza reached base on an error that sent Cabral to third. Marisa Felix then hit an RBI single. After a line-out double play to third base, Jenesa Monje doubled, moving Felix to third. Brown then singled up the middle for a 2-0 Ventura advantage.

A two-out rally in the third featured a Cabral double and a Mendoza single to make it 3-0 for the Pirates before Cerritos countered with a run in the bottom half of the frame.

The score remained until the Falcons scored one in the bottom of the sixth, and two in the bottom of the seventh to walk off with the victory.

VC resumes Western State Conference play on Tuesday March 5 with a home game against Allan Hancock College. First pitch is slated for 2:30 pm.
