Softball Splits Final Day of Tournament at Glendale

Sophomore Adriana Clemons had three hits and a pair of RBI on day two of the David "Hawk" Wilder Memorial Tournament in Glendale Saturday.

The Pirate softball team split its final two games of the David "Hawk" Wilder Memorial Tournament Saturday in Glendale, defeating Mt. San Jacinto 8-0 before falling to San Diego Mesa 9-1. Adriana Clemons had three hits to help pace the Pirates (3-1) while Kali Brown also recorded three hits. Jessica Mendoza went the distance in the circle to pick up the win against MSJC.

Ventura 8, Mt. San Jacinto 0
Ventura blanked the Eagles behind the 1-hit effort by Mendoza, who struck out four batters. Kali Brown went 2-3 with a triple offensively while Clemons was 2-2 with a double and one run batted in. Marissa Felix hit a home run with two RBI and Kayle Neal hit a solo shot out.

Ventura 1, San Diego Mesa 8
VC ended the weekend on a sour note with the loss to San Diego Mesa. Clemons was 1-2 and had VC's lone RBI in the game while Serrina Cabral was 1-3 with a double. Cassidy Craig, Brown and Mendoza all were 1-2 in the game. Kayla Garcia pitched for Ventura.

The Pirates host College of the Canyons on Tuesday Jan. 29 in their home opener. First pitch is scheduled for 1:30 pm at the VC Softball Complex.
