Softball Posts Third Win, Second Shutout in a Row

The Pirate softball team defeated visiting Cuesta College 8-0 on Monday afternoon for the team's third win and second shutout in a row. Pitcher Anissa Padilla allowed just three hits and struck out six in earning the complete game victory in the circle. Kaylee Neal had a pair of hits, including a double, and one run batted for the Pirates offensively.

VC (14-5, 4-1) scored four runs in the bottom of the second inning, then followed up with two run each in the third and fourth frames for the final margin.

Brittney Banales was 1-3 with a double and three RBI while Padilla had a triple with one run batted in at the plate. Angelina Flores also recorded a triple with two RBI and Sophie Dahlstedt had an RBI triple.

Ventura next hosts Moorpark on Tuesday March 20 at the VC Softball Complex. First pitch has been moved up to 12:00 noon in light of threatening weather later in the day.
