Late Rally Pushed Pirates Past Bulldogs

The Pirate softball team had a three-run rally in the bottom f the sixth inning Tuesday afternoon to defeat the visiting Allan Hancock Bulldogs 4-1 at the VC Softball Complex. Anissa Padilla was dominant in all aspects of the game, going 2-3 at the plate, including a home run, with two runs batted in. In the pitcher's circle, she recorded 10 strikeouts while scattering five hits over seven complete innings of work for the victory. Arianna Rivas was 1-3 with a triple and two RBI for Ventura (12-5, 2-1).

The contest between the two defending Western State Conference North Division co-champions  was close from the beginning. Ventura took a 1-0 lead with a score in the bottom of the fifth inning before the Bulldogs came back to tie things in the top of the sixth. That is when the Pirates rallied for three runs, holding AHC scoreless in the top of the seventh for the victory.

VC next travels to East Los Angeles on Saturday March 10 for games against Fullerton at 2:00 pm and the host Huskies at 4:00 pm. They will return home on Tuesday March 13 against Cuesta College at 2:30 pm.
