Pirate Rally Comes Up Short at Bakersfield

The Pirate softball team rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh inning, but they fell one run short, dropping a 6-5 decision in Bakersfield Thursday evening. Kayla Garcia was 2-3 with a run scored and a run batted in while Adriana Clemons had two hits and also scored a run. Brittney Banales knocked out two doubles.

The Renegades scored once in the bottom of the third before VC (11-5, 1-1) scored twice in the fourth to go ahead 2-1. BC rallied for three runs in the bottom half of the frame, then scored two more runs in the sixth inning for a 6-2 advantage. THen the Pirates made a mad dash in the top of the seventh, but fell just short.

Anissa Padilla had an RBI double and scored a run and Angelina Flores had a single and scored. 

Padilla took the loss in the circle, giving up six runs, only three of which were earned. 

The Pirates return home on Saturday March 3 to face Cerritos College at the VC Softball Complex. First pitch is slated for 11:00 am.
