Softball Pounds Santa Monica 14-0 in Five Innings

The Pirate softball team wasted little time in Santa Monica, putting up six runs in the top of the first inning en route to a 14-0 five-inning runaway victory over the Corsairs in the Western State Conference opener for both teams. Angelina Flores was 3-3 in the game with three runs scored and two RBI while Kaylee Neal also had three hits, including a double, and a pair of runs batted in.

Megan Best picked up the victory in the circle with three complete innings with four strikeouts, while Anissa Padilla picked up the save with two scoreless frames, also with four punch outs.

Ventura (11-4, 1-0) scored six runs in the first inning, and followed that up with three in the second. They also scored singles runs in the third and fourth before finishing up with three scores in the final frame.

Kayla Garcia was 2-3 with three runs scored and a pair of runs batted in, while Samantha Gonzalez had two hits, including a double, with one RBI and a run scored. Best and Brittney Banales each were 1-3 with two RBI in the game.

VC will next travel to Bakersfield on Thursday march 1 before hosting Cerritos on Saturday March 3 at 11:00 am.
