Softball Drops Home Opener to Pasadena

The Pirate softball team played their 2018 home opener Friday, dropping a 6-1 decision to visiting Pasadena City College at the VC Softball Complex. Celeste Ekman was 3-3, including a triple, and Sophie Dahlstedt also recorded three hits in the game for the Pirates (4-2).

PCC scored single runs in the third and fourth innings before Ventura halved the deficit n the bottom half of the fourth. The Lancers broke the game open with a four-run fifth frame.

Adriana Clemons was 1-2 at the plate with a run batted in and Kaylee Neal was 2-3. On the game, VC pounded out 11 hits, but could not get the runners around the bases.

Megan Best took the loss in the circle, and Anissa Padilla pitched the final three innings in relief.

The Pirates next travel to Canyons on Thursday Feb. 8.
