Sophomore Julianna Andrade had a great day at the plate, recording seven hits with nine RBI to lead the Pirate softball team to a double-header sweep at Santa Monica Monday.

The Pirate softball team swept a double header at Santa Monica Monday in a make-up from a rain on on March 21. VC (23-11, 13-5) won the first game 10-2 before powering past the Corsairs 23-3 in the second contest. Julianna Andrade had seven hits on the day with nine RBI to lead Ventura while Justine De La Rosa smacked out six hits with six runs batted in.

Ventura 10, Santa Monica 2
The Pirates had a 10-0 lead after the top of the third inning before SMC scored twice in the bottom half of the frame. Andrade was 3-3 with five RBI while scoring once and De La Rosa had a pair of doubles, scored three times, and batted in four runs. Celeste Ekman was 2-3 with an RBI while Alyssa Frutos was 2-3 with two runs scored. Anissa Padilla got the start in the circle, throwing three innings with four strikeouts and Megan Best finished off the contest with five K's in two innings.

Ventura 23, Santa Monica 3
VC used a 12-run third inning to blow Santa Monica out of the water. Andrade starred again with four hits, including three of doubles, two runs scored and four RBI. De La Rosa was 4-4 with a pair of doubles while scoring four runs with two runs batted in. Frutos was 3-5 while scoring four times and knocking in two and Brittany Perez was 3-5, including a home run, with four runs scored and three RBI. Padilla punched out two batters in one inning of work before yielding to Best, who struck out five in four innings of relief.

Ventura will next host Bakersfield in a double-header on Tuesday April 20.
