Ventura Takes Two Against Brahmas

The VC softball team hosted Los Angeles Pierce in a double header Tuesday, taking both games from the Brahmas, 7-2 and 19-0. Brittany Perez led the way with six hits on the day, including a home run and a pair of triples, with three RBI in the two games. Arianna Rivas recorded five hits for Ventura (18-8, 9-3), who sits in second place in the Western State Conference North Division standings.

The Pirates claimed game one of the twin bill with a come-from-behind 7-2 victory.  The Brahmas took a 2-0 lead in the second inning, but VC came back with a run in the fourth and five in the fifth to take control. Megan Best pitched the Pirates to victory with four solid innings and Anissa Padilla closed it out in the circle. Perez was 2-4 with a solo home run and a triple and Christina Hart was 2-3 with a pair of runs batted in. Alyssa Frutos also smacked a solo home run and Rivas recorded a double. Celeste Ekman was 2-3 with an RBI.

The Pirates had 23 hits in the nightcap, a big 19-0 victory in five innings. Padilla pitched for the win. Justine De La Rosa was 2-3 with a double and a home run, knocking in three runs. Perez was 4-4 at the plate, including a triple and a pair of RBI while Rivas was 4-5 with a double and a home run with two RBI. Alyson Mora had three hits, including a double, and batted in four runs and Padilla was 3-4, including a pair of triples and two RBI.      

The Pirates next travel to Moorpark with a key match-up with the Raiders on Thursday March 30. First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 pm.
