Perez, Padilla, VC Hold Down Oxnard 8-1

The Pirate softball team ran away from Oxnard on the road Thursday, posting an 8-1 victory over the Condors. Brittany Perez was 3-3 with a home run and a double, three runs scored and three runs batted in to lead the Ventura offense.  Meanwhile, Anissa Padilla captured the win in the pitcher's circle, scattering five hits with three strike outs while allowing just one run. 

Celeste Ekman was 2-4, including a double, with a run scored and an RBI and Julianna Andrade had a hit with a run scored and an RBI. Justine De La Rosa scored two runs for the Pirates (14-6, 7-3) in the game. 

Ventura took a 2-0 lead in the third inning, and scored single runs in the fourth and fifth frames. They exploded for four runs in the top of the sixth before Oxnard plated their lone run in the bottom half of the frame. for the final 8-1 margin.

VC will be at home Saturday and Sunday March 25 and 26, hosting the VC Spring Games.  VC plays at 8:00 am on Saturday against Porterville and at 10:15 am against Mt. San Jacinto.  On Sunday the Pirates will host Hartnell at 9:00 am and Long Beach at 4:30.
