Ventura Runs Away from Pierce On the Softball Diamond

The Ventura College softball team had no trouble scoring runs, defeating Los Angeles Pierce 27-0 in a five-inning game Thursday afternoon in Woodland Hills. Anissa Padilla and Megan Best shared pitching duties in the shutout. Brittany Perez led the offensive onslaught with four hits, including three triples, with two RBI. Julianne Abeloe, Celeste Ekman and Danielle Carmona all had three hits each.

The Pirates (4-3, 1-0) pounded out 22 hits as a team, and scored eight runs in the second inning and 14 in the third to break the game open. Christina Hart and Justine De La Rosa each had two hits in the victory.

Ventura will make its 2017 home debut on Tuesday Feb. 28 with a double header against Moorpark College.  First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 pm at the VC Softball Complex.
