The Ventura College softball team traveled to Oxnard to take on their rival Oxnard College in a Western State Conference doubleheader and brought home a pair of wins. In the opener VC picked up a 6-5 win and followed it up with a 8-1 in the nightcap. Lindsey Dietz and Julia Garcia each collected four hits on the day. Olivia Hernandez and Justine De La Rosa picked up wins in the circle.

Ventura won the first game of the conference double header in a tightly played game. VC trailed 1-0 after two innings of play but outscored the Condors 6-4 over the final five frames to claim the win. VC knocked out 13 hits in the game and was topped by Dietz who was 2-4 on the game with one RBI. Garcia went 2-3 with a double and one RBI. De La Rosa was 3-3 in the win and drove in a pair of runs to help the Pirate offense.

Hernandez was the starter for Ventura and pitched well enough to hold off the OC attack and help the Pirates to the win.

Ventura rode the strong start from De La Rosa to another WSC win as she struck out seven OC hitters and allowed just four hits in the game. Ventura left no doubt in this win taking an early advantage and never looking back. After 3 1/2 innings of play Ventura was up 3-0 and after the Condors scored one in the bottom of the fourth VC responded with three runs in the top of the fifth.

Dietz added two more hits to her day and collected three stolen bases. Garcia added two more hits and drove in three runs to top the Pirates run producers. Alyssa Frutos went 2-3 on the game and added four stolen bases for the Pirates.

Ventura (20-13, 7-5) will travel to Moopark on Thursday Apr. 14 for a 2:30 pm game. This will be a vital contest in the WSC standings as Ventura currently sits in fourth place just behind Santa Barbara and Cuesta while trailing first place Moorpark.
