Pirates Sweep Day One of VC Spring Games

The Ventura College softball team hosted their annual spring games with 20 teams competing. The Pirates swept their first day of games with an 8-3 win over Glendale in five innings. Then following it up with a 4-2 win over Mt. San Jacinto in five innings. Julia Garcia provided the offensive fireworks with three hits, one double and a home run. Olivia Hernandez and Claira Lozano picked up wins in the circle.

In their opener of the VC spring games the Pirates used an efficient offense to pick up an 8-3 win over Glendale. Ventura collected eight hits to produce their eight runs. Garcia was 2-3 with a double and an RBI. Justine De La Rosa had a double, as well as Marina Coffin and Alyssa Frutos. Coffin drove in one run while Frutos drove in two runs.

Hernandez went the distance in the circle for the win, her eighth of the season. 

Ventura 4 Mt. San Jacinto 2

Playing under the lights for a 7:00 pm start the Pirates rode the right arm of Lozano to their second win of the day. Lozano started in the circle for Ventura and allowed just four hits en route to the win. Garcia blasted a home run to spark the offense her third hit of the day and drove in two runs. Gabriella Ramos went 2-3 in the win and drove in one run.

Ventura (16-11, 4-4) will play again on Sunday Apr. 3 as part of the spring games. They are slated to play Porterville at 3:00 pm and then will play immediately following at 5:00 pm against College of the Canyons.
