The Ventura College softball team traveled to San Luis Obispo to take on Cuesta and fell behind early in falling 6-0. Lindsey Dietz and Justine De La Rosa were the top producers for the Pirates offensively with a pair of hits each. Dietz knocked a double.

Ventura (14-11, 4-4) got behind the Cougars early allowing four runs in the first and two runs in the second. The early 6-0 lead proved to be to much for the VC offense to rally back from as they mustered seven hits, but no runs while stranding six runners.

Olivia Hernandez started in the circle for Ventura and after the early six runs was able to settle down and hold back the Cougars attack, but the VC offense never got fully on track. Hernandez is now 7-7 on the season after allowing 11 hits with one strikeout and no walks. Hernandez picked up one hit on the day.

Brittney Banales and Julianne Abeloe were the other Pirates to pick up hits.

Ventura will play in the Ventura Spring Games on Saturday Apr. 2 and Sunday Apr. 3. Over the two days the Pirates will play four games starting  first with a contest against Glendale and then later on Saturday Apr. 2 against Mt. San Jacinto.
