Softball Unable to Overcome Santa Barbara

The Ventura College softball team traveled north to Pershing Park to take on Santa Barbara City and dropped a 9-1 game. Ventura was only able to collect four hits in the game and was paced by Julianne Abeloe who knocked out two Pirate hits. Olivia Hernandez went the distance in the loss.

The Pirates (12-10, 2-3) struggled to get their footing in the early part of the game as the Vaqueros scored six runs over the first two frames. Ventura got on the board in the top of the third inning when Lindsey Dietz collected an RBI double. SBCC though was able to two runs in the fourth and secure the run rule win with one run in the sixth inning to complete the victory.

Farris Burke was the lone other Pirate to collect a hit in the loss. Dietz had the lone Pirate RBI. Hernandez is now 2-3 in Western State Conference North play in the circle.

Ventura travels to Los Angeles Pierce on Tuesday Mar. 29 for a doubleheader WSC North match up. The first game is set for 1:00 pm. The second game tentatively will begin at 3:00 pm.
