Ventura College softball picked up their second straight one run win by taking down El Camino 2-1. Olivia Hernandez went the distance for the Pirates pitching a three hitter and walking just two hitters in earning the win. Farris Burke and Julianne Abeloe each collected two hits as VC had seven as a team.
Ventura (10-7, 1-0) used a two run third inning to overcome an early El Camino run and then rode the right arm of Hernandez to a victory. Lindsey Dietz reached via a fielders choice then came around to score when El Camino misplayed a flyball off the bat of Julia Garcia. Garcia scored on Burke's RBI single later in the inning. The two runs were all the Pirates needed to pick up the win.
Ventura will return to Western State Conference North play as they host Oxnard College on Thursday Mar. 17 in a 2:30 pm game.
