San Diego Mesa 4 Ventura 2

Ventura fell behind early allowing a first inning run, but came back with runs in the bottom of the first and in bottom of the second to take a 2-1 advantage. Mesa plated two runs in the fourth to retake the lead and then tacked on an insurance run in the seventh inning to hold off Ventura for a 4-2 win.

VC got multiple hits from De La Rosa who went two for three in the game. Abeloe picked up a sac fly to drive in one Pirate run. Farris Burke drove in the other VC run.

Olivia Hernandez started for Ventura in the circle and was dealt the loss.

Santiago Canyon 7 Ventura 0

Looking to respond to their earlier defeat the Pirates were tasked with facing a very tough Santiago Canyon team. The two teams played to a 0-0 tie after two innings before SC plated seven runs over the next four frames to put the game out of reach for Ventura.

The VC offense was able to muster just four hits in the game. Abeloe was able to go three for three in the loss. While Lindsey Dietz added the final Pirate hit of the day.

Hernandez again started for VC, but was unable to hold down the Santiago Canyon offensive attack.

Ventura is now 7-7-1 on the season. They will open Western State Conference North play with a home game on Thursday Mar. 10 against Allan Hancock at 2:30 pm.
