VC Pirate Softball Sweeps Pair of Games at Mt. San Jacinto

The Ventura College softball team played a pair of games in the Mt. San Jacinto tournament and brought home a pair of dominant wins. In the first game the Pirates picked up a 16-2 win over Victory Valley in five innings. Then they picked up a 8-0 win over San Diego City in the second game. Julianne Abeloe collected six hits and four RBI's. Lindsey Deitz added two hits, while Justine De La Rosa had two hits a double and one RBI while picking up a win in the circle.

Ventura coming of a tough win in their home opener, Ventura responded with a blowout victory in their opener of the Mt. San Jacinto games. De La Rosa made her first start in the circle for the Pirates and threw a complete game in the victory. The Pirates picked up 10 hits in the victory. Abeloe had two hits and three RBI's, while De La Rosa had a double and three walks. Julia Garcia added two hits and three RBI's. Mariah Gamboa picked up two hits  and one RBI.

Ventura 8 San Diego 0

Playing immediately after their opener of the tournament Ventura continued their offensive onslaught. Knocking out 14 hits in the win lead by Abeloe with a 4-4 game and one RBI. De La Rosa added one hit with an RBI, Deitz had two hits while Gamboa picked up two hits. Claira Lozano had two hits including a triple and three RBI's. Mariah Hernandez was 2-4 with a triple and two RBI's in the win. Olivia Hernandez picked up the win in the circle her second of the season.

Ventura (5-4) will play again on Saturday Feb. 13 for a pair of games starting with a 10 am match up against Barstow then they will play again at 12 pm against Napa.
