Ventura College softball hosted their home opener and picked up a 4-0 win over Victory Valley. The Pirates held VVC to one hit in the game while picking up eight hits of their own. Justine De La Rosa had three hits while five other Pirates knocked out single hits in the game. Farris Burke through a complete game allowing just the one hit and struck out six.

Ventura (3-4) started their season with six straight road games before opening their home slate on a hot, windy day and prevailed with a one hit shutout victory. Burke never faced any serious threat from the Rams offense with just five base runners reaching in the game one on a hit by pitch and three by walk. 

Julianne Abeloe, Lindsey Dietz, Gabriella Ramos and Brittney Banales each scored runs for the Pirates who stranded 17 runners in the game. De La Rosa and Ramos each collected triples in the win. As well, De La Rosa and Ramos drove in two of the four VC runs.

Ventura will head to Mt. San Jacinto on friday Feb. 12 and saturday Feb. 13 for a pair of doubleheaders in the Mt. San Jacinto games.
