Pirates Softball Unable to Pick Up Win at Bakersfield

Traveling to Bakersfield the Ventura College softball team dropped a 9-2 decision to the Renegades of Bakersfield College. Ventura got a total of six hits in the game and five of those hits were from Justine De La Rosa with three and Lindsey Dietz with two.

Ventura (2-3) hit the road to take on Bakersfield following a 2-2 performance in the Glendale tournament looking to get their record over .500 for the season.  The Pirates got out to an early advantage scoring one run in the second inning when Brittney Banales got a one out hit by pitch and advanced to second on a passed ball. Farris Burke scored Banales with a two out rbi single up the middle. BC responded quickly scoring three runs in the third inning and one run in the fourth to go up 4-1, but the Pirates cut into the lead with a run in the sixth when Claira Lozano drove in Mariah Gamboa with a bases loaded single to cut the deficit to 4-2. BC though tacked on five insurance runs in the bottom half of the inning to hold of the Pirates.

Burke was 1-3 in the game with her rbi, as well she started in the circle for the Pirates and was dealt the loss falling to 1-2 on the season. 

Ventura will be on the road this Saturday Feb. 6 for a 12:00 pm game against Cerritos College. Then on Tuesday Feb. 9 the Pirates will host their home opener at 2:00 pm against Victor Valley College.
