Ventura was able to down LBCC behind the efforts of Hernandez and her battery mate Deitz who held back the Long Beach offense over the five innings. Ventura collected eight hits in the game, Deitz had two with two rbi's and two stolen bases, while Mariah Gamboa added two hits of her own including a double and two rbi's. VC also had rbi's from Garcia and Julianne Abeloe in the victory. The Pirates scored runs in the first, third and fourth innings. With the win the Pirates improved to 2-1 on the young season.

VC returned to the field immediately after completion of their win over LBCC to take on perennial state power Santa Ana. The Pirates took an early lead over the Dons when Garcia hit a three run home run following a pair of Pirate walks. A third inning rbi single from Deitz was not quite enough for the Pirates to bring home their second victory of the day. Farris Burke started in the circle for VC and was dealt her first loss of the season. Justine De La Rosa collected a double for the Pirates in the game.

Ventura is now 2-2 on the season. They will return to the field with a road trip to Bakersfield College on Tuesday Feb. 2 at 5:00 pm. Then on Saturday Feb. 6 the Pirates will travel to Cerritos College for a 12:00 pm game.
