The Ventura College softball team shut out Los Angeles Pierce 10-0 Thursday in Woodland Hills, setting up a dramatic final day of the season next Tuesday at Cuesta.  The Pirates are a game ahead of the Cougars for the conference's final automatic playoff spot, giving VC the post-season nod with a split in San Luis Obispo i the regular season finale.

The Pirates opened with six runs in the first inning, followed by three in the fourth and one in the fifth.  

Marina Coffin led the offense with a three-hit performance with one RBI while Mariah Gamboa was 2-3, including a triple, and one run batted in.  Gabriella Ramos was 1-2 while batting in one run and Brittany Perez also had a hit and two RBI.  Yamilex Ruiz had one hit with three runs batted in.

Alexis White picked up the victory in the pitcher's circle.

Ventura, 8-4 in WSC play, holds a one game lead over Cuesta (7-5) for second place in the Western State Conference Gold Division.  With the division getting two automatic berths into the CCCAA SoCal Regional Playoffs, the Pirates need only a split of the ir double-header on Tuesday April 21 in San Luis Obispo to qualify for the post-season.
