Completing eight games in six days, the Pirate softball team dropped both games of a twin bill with conference leading Allan Hancock College Tuesday at the VC Softball Complex.  The Bulldogs, ranked No. 6 in Southern California, blanked the Pirates 9-0 in the opener before Ventura (12-18, 5-4) bounced back to take the nightcap to an extra frame before falling 2-1.

Ventura 0, Allan Hancock 9 - Game 1
The Pirates were limited to three hits in the shutout loss.  Brittany Perez, Mariah Gamboa and Carly Camarillo all batted 1-3 in the game.

Ventura 1, Allan Hancock 2 (8 innings) - Game 2
Hancock took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and VC evened the score with a run in the bottom of the fourth.  The Bulldogs scored the decisive run in the first extra inning and VC was unable to match it. Camarillo had a strong outing in the pitcher's circle for Ventura, limiting AHC to five hits. Lindsey Deitz hit a triple in the bottom of the fourth, and scored on Yamilex Ruiz's sacrifice fly.

The Pirates will now take a week off before returning to the field for a double-header against Oxnard on Tuesday April 7.  The first game will begin at 1:00 pm at the VC Softball Complex.
