Softball Drops First Two of VC Spring Games

On the first day of the VC Spring Games, the Pirates softball team dropped a pair of games Saturday at the VC Softball Complex.  The Pirates fell to Long Beach 18-0 before pushing SoCal No. 2-ranked Cypress in a 9-4 extra inning loss to the Chargers.  Brittany Perez led VC with three hits on the day with a pair of RBI.

Perez got the Pirates' only hit as they saw their four-game winning streak snapped by the Vikings.

Carly Camarillo had a solid day in the pitcher's circle for Ventura (11-15, 5-2) holding Southern California's No. 2-ranked Cypress College at bay for eight innings before the Chargers scored five in the top of the ninth.  Perez led the offense with two hits, including a home run, and two RBI while Lindsey Deitz was 2-3 with one RBI.  Gabriella Ramos had a single and batted in one run and Farris Burke also had a hit for VC.

Ventura closes the Spring Games out on Sunday March 29 against Canyons at 8:30am and against Porterville at 5:00 pm.
