VC Softball Uses Big Inning to Pull Away from Condors

The Pirate softball team scored six times in the top of the seventh inning to pull away from the Oxnard Condors Thursday, posting a 12-2 victory in Oxnard. Lindsey Deitz was 3-5 in the game with a double, three stolen bases and an RBI while Mariah Gamboa was 3-4 with two RBI.

Ventura plated a pair of runs in the top of the second inning before the Condors answered with one to halve the lead at 2-1.  The Pirates scored four runs in the fifth inning and then broke the game open with six runs in the top of the final frame.

Alexis White scattered six hits over seven innings with five strikeouts while giving up two runs, zero earned.

Brittany Perez had three RBI and two hits while Yamilex Ruiz had an RBI double.  Carly Camarillo was 2-3 with an RBI and Claira Lozano had two hits and an RBI.

Ventura returns to action with a double header at Moorpark on Tuesday March 17, beginning at 1:00 pm.  They open a 13-game homestand on Tuesday March 24 with a double-header against Los Angeles Pierce.
