The Pirate softball team had a 1-0 lead, but ultimately fell to the visiting Los Angeles Valley College Monarchs Thursday in extra innings. LAVC plated a single run in the top of the eighth to produce the winning margin. Carly Camarillo and two hits and an RBI while Brittany Perez also had two hits, including a double. Yamilex Ruiz had a triple and scored a run in the game.
VC scored in the bottom of the second inning, taking a 1-0 lead, but gave up the tying run in the sixth.
Farris Burke scattered eight hits in eight innings of work, giving up two runs, one earned, in the game.
Ventura travels to Victor Valley on Saturday Feb. 21, and they travel to San Bernardino valley on Tuesday Feb. 24. They return home on Thursday Feb. 26 against Los Angeles Mission College at 2:30 pm at the VC Softball Complex.
