Julia Garcia smacked two more home runs and batted in four runs as VC defeated Cuesta in its WSC opener 7-3 in San Luis Obispo Thursday.

SOFTBALL: The Ventura College softball team traveled to San Luis Obispo Thursday to open Western State Conference Gold Division play and came home with a 7-3 victory over Cuesta College. Julia Garcia had two home runs with four RBI for the Pirates (7-6-1, 1-0) while Roxanne Lopez was 3-4 with a home run and an RBI. Ashley Cerda and Ashley Thorp also had two-hit games for VC. Alex Thorp picked up her sixth win of the year in the pitcher's circle.
VC travels to San Diego on Saturday March 8 to take on San Diego City College at 10:00 am and Long Beach City College at 12:00 noon. The Pirates return home Thursday March 13 against Oxnard at 2:30 pm.
