SOFTBALL: Beginning an eight-game swing away from home, the Ventura College softball team dropped a 4-2 decision at Cerritos College Wednesday afternoon. Sabrina Cerda had a pair of hits and a run while Julia Garcia had a double and an RBI. Roxanne Lopez also produced a hit with an RBI and Ashley Cerda scored a run for VC (5-6-1). Alex Thorp took the loss in the pitcher's circle, giving up four rune, one earned, while striking out two.
The Pirates have an eight-day break before traveling to Bakersfield on Friday Feb. 27, followed by a double-header at Mt. San Antonio on Friday Feb. 28 and a pair of games at Santa Ana, against Canyons and the Dons, on Saturday March 1.
