Softball Defeats Victor Valley

Sophomore Alex Thorp picked up her fourth win of the year in allowing one run and four hits while striking out six in VC's 5-1 victory over Victor Valley College.

SOFTBALL:  The VC softball team bounced back from a 1-0 deficit to score five unanswered runs in their home win over Victor Valley College Monday at the VC Softball Complex. Alex Thorpe threw six strikeouts while allowing four hits in picking up her fourth win of the year. Julia Garcia continued her hot streak with a double and a grand slam home run for all five RBI for the Pirates (5-5-1).

After falling behind in the top of the first, Ventura tied the game in the bottom of the inning. Roxanne Lopez hit a triple, then Julia garcia doubled her home . In the fifth inning, Sabrina Cerda reached first base on a walk, then Lopez and Alyssa Mendoza were both hit by a pitch. JGarcia homered to right field to set the final margin in the 5-1 victory.

The Pirates begin eight straight games away from home on Wednesday Feb. 18 at Cerritos College. Gametime with the Falcons is 2:00 pm.
