SOFTBALL:  After giving up two runs in the top of the seventh inning, the Pirate softball team rallies for one in the bottom half of the final frame to walk off with a 4-3 victory over Los Angeles Valley College Tuesday afternoon at the VC Softball Complex. Ashley Cerda slapped a base hit to right field scoring Veronica Garcia from second base for the game-winning run. Ashley Thorp was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI while Julia Garcia also knocked out a double with an RBI for VC (2-3-1).

VC fell behind 1-0 ion the fourth inning, but came back to tie in the bottom of the fifth. Alex Thorp was hit by a pitch and sacrificed to second before Veronica Garcia hit produced VC's first run. The Pirates took the lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Alyssa Mendoza led off with a walk, and scored on Julia Garcia's double. Ashley Thorp followed with an RBI double to send Garcia home. The Monarchs tied the score with two runs in the top of the seventh setting up the walk-off win.

Ventura will next travel to the Mt. San Jacinto Tournament Feb. 15 and 16 before returning home on Monday Feb. 17 against Victor Valley. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 pm that Monday afternoon.
