VC Drops Water Polo Game at Citrus

The VC men's water polo team dropped a 15-9 decision at Citrus College in Glendora Wednesday. Joe Lowry, Alexis Nava, Sebastian Cornejo and Carlos Gonzalez all had a pair of goals for Ventura in the balanced effort against the Owls. Sebastian Ayala turned back 10 shots in the cage.

After trailing 4-1 after one quarter of play, the Pirates played the Owls within one goal in the second period. The defenses took over in the second half as neither team was able to find the inside of the cage with any regularity over the final 16 minutes.

Gonzales added two assists and three drawn ejections to his scoring total while Cornejo also handed out a pair of dimes. Nava totaled two drawn ejections and an assist and Matthew Ogonowski scored once with an assist and a steal.

The Pirates next travel to the Santa Monica Mini on Friday Oct. 14 to take on Southwestern and Cypress.
