Pirates Drop Pair at Central Coast Invite

Pirate sophomore Joe Lowry led VC with three goals Saturday in a pair of games at the Central Coast Invitational hosted by Cuesta College.

The VC men's water polo team dropped a pair of games Saturday at the Central Coast Invitational hosted by Cuesta College. Ventura lost to Golden West in the first game of the day before dropping the tournament finale to Mt. San Antonio. Joe Lowry led the Pirates with three goals on the day.

Ventura 2, Golden West 16

Lowry and Carlos Gonzalez each scored for the Pirates while Alexis Nava and Michael Andrews each handed out an assist. Sebastian Cornejo had a pair of steals defensively and Sebastian Ayala recorded five saves.

Ventura 4, Mt. San Antonio 18

Lowry scored twice and had two assists to lead VC. George Bonilla and Cornejo also found the inside of the cage. Ayala turned back eight shots by the Mounties in goal.

The Pirates open Western State Conference play at home on Wednesday Sept. 28 with play beginning at 3:00 pm at the Ventura Aquatic Center.
