2019 Men's Water Polo Review

Under first-year head coach Travis Allain, the Pirates' men's water polo team had a resurgence or sorts, improving nine wins from their 2018 campaign. VC equalled their win total from 2018 on the opening weekend of the year, posting their highest point total in a decade with a 25-7 victory over Las Positas. Things got better from that point as Ventura produced 11 victories in 2019 with a 3-3 mark in Western State Conference play. The Pirates closed the year with a victory over Santa Monica to claim third place in the WSC.

Austin BrunkRyan Reardon and Brandyn Robles headline the Pirates' men's water polo team's All-Western State Conference honorees for the 2019 season, earning first team all-conference recognition. Daniel Mclean and Jake Peters received second-team All-WSC nods while Gabriel IbarraBrandon Berce and Julian Larios all earned Honorable Mention honors.

Brunk a sophomore center defender, earned team Most Valuable Player honors. The Newbury Park High School product totaled 97 points on the season, including 35 assists, and he led the team with 52 steals and 25 shot blocks. 

The Scholar Athlete award went to Mclean, a freshman goalkeeper. The Buena High School graduate had 153 saves and 30 steals on the year while earning a perfect 4.0 grade point average. He also completed his Emergency Medical Technician program while playing for the Pirates.
