Ventura Drops Two to Conclude Mt. SAC Tourney

The Pirates' six-game winning streak came to an end with a pair of losses Saturday at the Mt. SAC Tournament in walnut.  VC fell to Palomar 14-11 in a close contest before dropping the finale to the host Mounties 16-7. CJ Daland had seven goals and five steals in the two losses And Clint Howard scored three times with four steals.

The Pirates trailed following every quarter and their fourth period comeback bid fell short against the Comets.  VC was on the short end of too many two-goal swings to come out on top.  Daland found the back of the net three times with a pair of assists and five drawn ejections.  Howard netted three goals with four drawn ejections and two steals in the physical match.  Coby Wiegman had three goals with two assists and Kyle Goodrich handed out two assists.  Luis Galvez had 12 saves in goal.

Ventura 7, Mt. San Antonio 16
VC fell to the hosts in the final match of the tournament 16-7.  Daland had four scores with three steals while Hunter Cotter, Goodrich and Roger Escalante all scored for the Pirates.  Galvez had 10 saves in the cage.

Ventura will travel to the Cal Lutheran on Friday Sept. 23 before making their home debut against the VC Alumni at 9:30 am Saturday Sept. 24 at the Ventura Aquatic Center.  The Pirates will also play a Cal State Northridge club team at 12:15 pm Saturday.
