Daland, Howard Lead Men's Polo to Wins at Tournament

Behind strong performances from CJ Daland and Clint Howard, the VC men's water polo team won a pair of matches at the Citrus College Tournament in matches played at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.  VC defeated Rio Hondo 18-10 in the first game before besting San Diego Miramar 15-9 Daland scored 11 goals on the day while Howard tallied eight scores for the Pirates (3-1).

Daland had a strong start scoring four of his eight goals in the first quarter as the Pirates jumped out to a 6-2 advantage. He also had a drawn ejection and two steals in the match while Howard totaled five goals with two assists, five ejections and a steal.  Kyle Goodrich had three goals , three assists and a steal and Coby Wiegman scored once with three assists and three steals in the victory. Luis Galvez turned back 10 Roadrunner shots in goal with three steals.

Daland and Howard each had three goals, as did Isaac Alvary.  Daland added a pair of assists and a steal while Goodrich had two goals, an assist, a drawn ejection and one steal. Howard added three drawn ejections and Micah Peterson had two assists and two steals.  Galvez recorded four saves with a steal.

The Pirates continue play at the Citrus Tournament Saturday Sept. 10.  In Glendora on the Citrus College campus, they will play Fullerton at 10:10 am and Chaffey at 12:30pm.
