Using a fast-paced offense, the Pirates' men's water polo team jumped out to a 9-0 lead late into the second quarter en route to their 17-7 victory over visiting Rio Hondo College Saturday morning at the Ventura Aquatic Center.  Daniel Amorim had four goals, two assists and a steal to lead the way for VC while Trevor Edwards found the net three times.

VC held a 7-0 lead at the end of the first eight-minute period, and led 9-0 before the Roadrunners got on the board.  The Pirates led 11-1 at halftime before coasting into the 17-7 win.

Nathan Sardoni scored twice and Keaton Hess led the defense with three steals.  Isaias CastanonAlejandro Astudillo and Coby Wiegman each scored one goal offensively while pulling in a pair of steals on defense.  J'son Ruiz had two saves and two steals in the cage for Ventura.

VC will host Santa Monica College in their Western State Conference opener on Wednesday Sept. 30. The game is slated to begin at 2:15pm at the Ventura Aquatic Center.
