Men's Water Polo Drops Two at Mt. SAC Tournament

Despite improving early season play, the Ventura College Men's Water Polo team dropped a pair of games to begin the Mt. San Antonio College Tournament Friday in Walnut.  VC (2-5) lost to Palomar 14-11 in the opener before falling 14-9 to Orange Coast. Sophomore Daniel Amorim had seven goals on the day to go along with four steals, three drawn exclusions and a pair of assists.

Ventura 11, Palomar 14
Amorim led the way with six goals, three steals and two drawn ejections as VC fought against one of the state's top teams.  Trevor Edwards had a pair of scores and Alejandro Astudillo recorded two steals and a drawn ejection with a score.  J'son Ruiz turned back 11 shots by the Comets in the cage for the Pirates.

Ventura 9, Orange Coast 14
Edwards turned in four scores, an assist and one steal for Ventura to lead the way against the Pirates from the South.  Nathan Sardoni had three goals, two drawn ejections and a steal while Amorim and Keaton Hess each scored one goal.  Luis Galvez led the defense with six saves in goal.

Ventura concludes play at the Mt. SAC Tournament on Saturday Sept. 19 with matches against the host Mounties and against Fullerton College.
