Men's Polo Claims Third at Citrus Tournament

The Pirates' men's water polo team split their second day at the Citrus Tournament in Glendora to claim third place in their season-opening event.  VC (2-2) dropped a 14-6 decision to the host Owls before coming back to defeat Fullerton 14-6 in the third place game.  Trevor Edwards was dominant offensively with 12 goals in the two games.

Ventura 6, Citrus 16
Ventura came out cold in the morning game, falling behind 11-1 at halftime to the tournament hosts. Edwards led the scoring with a pair of gaols while Coby WiegmanAlejandro AstudilloEddie Quila also found the back of the net.  Keaton Hess had three steals and drew three ejections and Eric Krieger also had a pair of steals in the loss.

Ventura 14, Fullerton 6
A day after dropping 15-7 decision to Fullerton, the Pirates dominated the Hornets to claim third place in the tournament.  Edwards was on fire with 10 goals, with single scores each by Wiegman, Daniel Amorim and Rogelio Coronado.  Amorim also had five steals and four drawn ejections in the game while Jake Perl recorded two steals. 

The Pirates next travel to Cal Lutheran for a game on Wednesday Sept. 16.  The Pirates and Kingsmen will begin at 5:00 pm in Thousand Oaks.
